Old School Senior Apartments involved the adaptive re-use of an abandoned public school, inhabited by vagrants since Hurricane Katrina, into 37 units of affordable housing for seniors. The project financing closed in February, 20200, shortly before the COVID-19 pandemic struck, which gave rise to numerous unexpected challenges. Once completed, the project was well-received by the target market, praised by long-suffering neighbors and recognized by a local historic preservation organization with an award in 2023.
